Drywall in Shreveport

Shreveport is the widest span of housing we work across, and it is the reason we specialise rather than treat drywall as a sideline. The historic districts, Highland and South Highlands in particular, hold homes from the early decades of the last century where original plaster and lath is still in place behind the paint. Patching drywall into those walls is not a like-for-like job: plaster is usually thicker than half-inch board, so the repair has to be furred out to finish flush with casings and baseboards that have not moved in ninety years.

Out toward the newer south and east of the city the problems invert. Those houses are recent enough that first-cycle settlement and fastener movement account for most of what gets called damage, and the finishes are consistent sprayed textures that match reliably. Two very different jobs, in the same city, often on the same day.

What is common to both is the ground and the air. Much of the area sits on clay-rich soil that swells and shrinks with the seasons, concentrating movement at door and window corners, and the humidity here slows joint compound well past what the bag suggests. Those two facts shape nearly every decision on this list, and they are why Shreveport Drywall Pro does drywall only rather than as a sideline.

Not Sure Which One You Need?

Most people call us describing a symptom rather than a service, which is fine. Here is the short version of how the symptoms map.

A hole, a crack or a dent is drywall repair, or patching if it is small and there are several of them. A crack that keeps coming back in the same place is usually the house moving rather than the drywall failing, and we will tell you that rather than patch it twice.

Brown rings, soft board or a musty smell is water damage, and the source has to be stopped before any drywall work starts. A ceiling that sags or dips between the joists is ceiling repair, and it is frequently a board thickness problem rather than damage.

Bare framing in an addition or garage conversion is installation. Board that is already hung but not finished is taping and finishing. A patch that is structurally fine but visibly a different texture from the wall around it is texturing.

A bumpy ceiling you would like gone is popcorn ceiling removal, and if the house predates the early 1980s it should be lab-tested before anyone scrapes it. Paper you want off the walls is wallpaper removal and wall prep. Metal stud framing, rated assemblies or a tenant build-out is commercial drywall.

Still unsure? Call (318) 666-5548 and describe what you are looking at. We would rather point you to the right service, or tell you the problem is not drywall at all, than sell you the wrong one.

Every Service, In Every Area We Cover

Most of the services above have their own page for each community we serve, covering what is specific to that area's housing and conditions. The housing in Bossier City near Barksdale is not the housing going up in Stonewall, and the drywall problems are not the same either.
